| Role Summary/Purpose: | This role will be part of the BI Data Engineering team responsible for defining, maintaining & enhancing the logical, physical and presentation data models and information architecture for Enterprise Data Management initiatives at GE Transportation. |
| Essential Responsibilities: | - Implement enterprise information architecture for unified access to structured and unstructured data across multiple data sources including, data warehouse (Exadata), Data Lake (Hadoop), sensor / machine data. - Must have a passion for analyzing and profiling data, understanding the existing structure by looking at the code (Informatica, Qlik, OBIEE, GreenPlum) and querying data stores. - Develop deep expertise using data management tools in use at GE Transportation including Relational and Big Data technologies via training, working with the existing development teams and exploring various self-help methods of learning. - Model & Implement semantic data access layers for data discovery, work with Qlik business champions to design and structure these datasets in a very intuitive, user friendly fashion. - Model and implement data solution using Master Data Management principles and tools. - Implement data governance and quality initiatives ensuring consistent translation and usage of data (key KPIs/ metrics) across the board. - Publish and distribute of enterprise and data warehouse data models and related documentation throughout the company - Document logical data integration (ETL) strategies for data flows between disparate source/target systems and the enterprise information repositories - Develop and maintain controls on data quality, interoperability and sources to effectively manage corporate risk. - Perform variety of in-depth data analysis, data modeling, and data design tasks on complicated datasets with potentially complex data integration scenarios - Implement technical projects, provide status reports and progress. - Ability to learn new technologies and take on hands-on development work based on business priorities. |
| Qualifications/Requirements: | - Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering or HS diploma / GED + 3 years of related IT experience - Minimum 1 additional years of experience working as a data architect/specialist with current information technologies and their implementation into the business function. - Experience in data modeling and facilitation. - Experience with Oracle and SQL or Experience with Big Data technologies with especial focus on data structures and data organization. |
